Happy birthday, xG-Afterwork!
The first xG-Afterwork of 2026 also marked its one-year anniversary, and it was a great reminder of what these evenings are about: good people, good conversations, and ideas that benefit from being discussed across disciplines.
Alongside cake and pizza, a few highlights stood out.
Researcher, designer, and media artist Anke von der Heide shared insights into the real-world limitations of broadcasting media art performances to multiple VR devices. Her talk sparked thoughtful (and very practical) discussions about where current technology still needs to catch up with creative ambition.
We also heard pitches on
Molecular bacteria sensors powered by fluidic neural networks (Jorge Torres Gómez, Senior Researcher at Technische Universität Berlin)
Bringing 5G connectivity to the world via High Altitude Platforms (Ludovico Turinetti Di Priè, founder of o-boot)
Both quickly turned into lively exchanges that crossed research, engineering, and application perspectives.
Participants gave especially positive feedback on the rotating-trio format, which led to focused conversations and genuinely new contacts…. which is exactly what xG-Afterwork is meant to create.
We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events, but for now, enjoy the gallery below!
